Self-Portrait |
|
|
|
|
Look
at the portrait on Page 43 in The Art of Looking Sideways. Make a self portrait by cutting facial features
from magazines. Paste them with glue stick to a sheet that is no smaller
than 8.5"x 11". Fill the whole page—find colors to make
a background. |

|
|
| Try
to make your self portrait while looking in a mirror. Use photographs only
as a last resort. Understand that your final image may be a distant approximation—may
not look exactly like you. See if you can capture something essential to
our visual recognition of you. You may incorporate symbols but only after
you make the effort to create a likness. |

| These
are due on Monday, June 4. Hang them on the bulletin board at the front
of the studio when you get them completed so that others can see your progress. |
