As a result of a discussion regarding what I considered the proper viewing distance for the painting I was doing at the time I suggested the distance at which one might read a book. It dawned on me that I could imply this kind of intimate viewing if I used the book page as the paper/ground for the painting. I also found books that conveyed content I thought relevent to the painting itself. So, although the painting is abstract, the content of the book imposes itself on the context. | ||||||||||||
