Technology Project Synopsis (the next stage of refinement of your ideas)


Schedule

  • Project synopsis due Nov. 21 (Post to the Project Synopsis Forum)
    • (Both Goals and Objectives and a "grading" rubric must be included)
  • Project Presentation and one page Executive Summary Dec. 7
  • Project Final Submission December 14

Common Requirements

  • A critical examination of technology
  • - Each of these must be evident in the project. Develop a "comprehensive" overview (vs off the cuff or cursory) of how you will cover the major areas. This Section must be a minimum of 500 words.
    • historical perspectives
    • Current role in society
    • societal impacts and implications
    • environmental aspects
    • future considerations
    • References adequate in number to support and inform your research
      • At least 5 correctly and completely cited references are required for your Synopsis paper, but 10 are highly recommended to give you a jump on your work. Try to use the references in your paper as well.

Flexibles (Each of the following need to be addressed in addition to the above)

  • Write out Goals & Objectives for your specific project
  • Presentation medium
  • - What medium is best for you and your topic and why?
    • Poster/hard visual
    • AV new and old
      • Powerpoint
      • Slides
      • Video
    • Web page or paper
    • Paper
    • Drama
    • Artistic media
  • Presentation Format - What format would you prefer? What will best present your information and your learning.
    • All Presentations will be "public" in some way. Papers will be published to the web, presentations given in class, other visual media put on virtual or real display depending on medium, etc.
  • Assessment Criterion
    • Are all required components present?
    • How much effort went into the project? How will I know?
    • What is the quality of the components?
      • Development of a rubric
      • What are the criteria on which you want to be assessed or graded. I want you to tell me what criteria would distinguish clearly Excellent A level work, Above average B level work, Average C level work etc. in my examination of your project.
