Bethany Nelson: Personal Biography

Bethany Nelson grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis called Fridley. Her family consists of two younger sisters- one is seven, and one is thirteen- and her mother and father.

She has been a member of the same church her whole life- Christ Gospel Church- which she absolutely loves being a part of. She was very involved in her church youth group and has been a leader in the group for years. She was also active in the church choir, newsletter, and nursery.

She attended a private school called Woodcrest Baptist Academy for the majority of her elementary and high school education. During high school she was actively involved in many different programs such as choir, yearbook, pep club and drama. She was one of the main characters in a murder mystery play her junior year. Her high school did not offer as many extracurricular activities as she would have liked because of its extremely small size, but she tried to be involved in as many as were available. She was moderately successful academically, maintaining a 3.85 GPA and graduating at a rank of 3rd out of a graduating class of 15.

During high school she made ends meet by working as a cashier at a Target near her home. Within a year she was moved up to Guest Services, and then within six months was promoted to a team trainer at the service desk.

She decided upon graduation to attend Bethel University. She was not sure how she would afford the tuition, but knew that God would make a way. He definitely opened doors by allowing Bethany to be awarded almost ten thousand dollars in aid and scholarships, and by giving her a campus job at the library. Bethany is majoring in business and political science and plans on going on to graduate school. She would like to eventually secure a job in business law or as a professional lobbyist, and she is excited to be a part of this business project.
