Bethel Antiracism and Reconciliation
Students who come from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences will find a number of campus organizations offering support and friendship as they transition into university living. The organizations also offer opportunities to make a reconciling impact on the Bethel community. Contact the Office of Student Life in the College of Arts & Sciences (651.638.6300) or Bethel Seminary (651.638.6165) to connect with one of these groups.

BARRC Reconciliation Lunch Groups of students, staff, and faculty from different cultural backgrounds
commit to meet regularly throughout the school year to dialogue in an
informal setting. Members of the groups get to know fellow Bethel
community members on a personal level, share insights into differing
perspectives and life experiences, and gain a broader worldview—all
concrete steps toward reconciliation. Contact Jeff Sanders for more information.

Bethel Community Council (BCC)
is a committee of faculty, staff, and student representatives from the
College of Arts & Sciences, Bethel Seminary, College of Adult &
Professional Studies, and Graduate School Graduate that works to
practically implement Bethel’s commitment to diversity and racial
reconciliation. Meeting monthly, goals of the BCC are to increase the
number of students, staff, and faculty of color at Bethel; increase
communication between groups and individuals interested in racial
reconciliation and cultural diversity; provide organized support for
marginalized individuals and interest groups; and stimulate synergistic
thinking, activities, and events that support these goals. Contact Sandra McNeal for more information.

Mu Kappa,
an organization for Bethel students who were brought up on the
missionary field, helps “MKs”(missionary kids) network with others with
similar life experiences and find support as they make cultural
adjustments. Mu Kappa members enjoy retreats, movie nights, exotic
meals, and other social events together.
