Biography

Janelle was born and raised in Minnesota, not far from her current home town of St. Paul where she lives with her husband, children, and dogs.  Janelle is picky about her coffee (dark roast) and crosswords (New York Times only) and loves her family, her church, and Minnesota seasons.

In her early career, Janelle taught middle school and high school Spanish before leaning into God's call to work with students with disabilities. She worked in St. Paul Public Schools for 14 years, teaching and leading special education at many levels.

Working at Bethel University has brought joy to Janelle's professional life in the daily interactions with students. Bethel has given students in the BUILD program many opportunities that no one before thought possible. At the same time, students in BUILD are giving back to Bethel through their friendship, joy, and examples of what God can do with any life that is dedicated to His service.
