Biography

Emily Urban is a versatile collaborative pianist based in the Twin Cities. She works in a wide variety of venues, including musical theater, opera, recitals-competitions, vocal coaching/accompanying, and musical directing. Ms. Urban earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater Performance from Syracuse University. After working in New York City for several years as a vocal coach and audition-rehearsal accompanist for many Broadway performers, she returned to Minnesota and has been a Staff Accompanist at Bethel University since 2005. She also serves as the accompanist for The Minnesota Opera's "Voices of Opera" program. Other theater and opera companies she has worked with in the Twin Cities include The Guthrie Theater, Nautilus Music-Theater, Minneapolis Musical Theatre, The Zephyr Theater, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Artistry, Opera on Tap, The Lake Area Music Festival, and the Bethel Summer Theater.

Ms. Urban is married to Marshall Urban, who is also on the voice faculty at Bethel. They have three young children, Joe, Suzy and Tommy.
