M.A. in Ministry Practice

For graduates of the School of Church Leadership program.

Bethel Seminary faculty has approved a Master of Arts in Ministry Practice at Bethel Seminary for graduates of the School of Church Leadership. This degree is pending approval by accreditation agencies and is a special program developed in partnership between Converge Worldwide and Bethel Seminary.

Step 1: Complete Certificate Courses

If the M.A. in Ministry Practice gains final accreditation approval, qualified students who successfully complete the School of Church Leadership courses for credit and who apply successfully to Bethel Seminary may enroll in the M.A. in Ministry Practice, beginning in the fall of 2013.

Step 2: Complete M.A. Courses at Bethel Seminary

After completing the School of Church Leadership courses and enrolling in the M.A. program, students will take the remaining Bethel University coursework required to for the M.A. in Ministry Practice:

  • Old Testament Survey
  • New Testament Survey
  • New Testament or Old Testament: Exegetical Explorations
  • Hermeneutics
  • Systematic Theology I
  • Systematic Theology II
  • Christian Social Ethics
  • History I or History II
  • Introduction to Spiritual and Personal Formation
  • Global, Cultural, and Contextual Ministry
  • Introduction to Transformational Leadership
  • Senior Integrative Seminar
  • Supervised Ministry

The 6 School of Church Leadership courses will fulfill 18 credit hours of a 57 credit degree program leading to the M.A. in Ministry Practice. This is a special program developed in partnership between Converge Worldwide and Bethel Seminary. While the graduates of the School of Church Leadership will take a total of 57 credit hours for degree completion to earn their M.A. in Ministry Practice, other versions of the M.A. in Ministry Practice may require different numbers of credits for completion.
