Heart & Mind

Kate’s Take

My sister, Libby, probably took it the hardest.Picture of Jeanine Brown and her two daughters She was going to a sleep over when my dad and I were going to drop my mom off at the airport. I remember her crying as she and my mom hugged in the yard. Soon after that we left for the airport. It was like a normal car ride, as if nothing were going to happen. After long goodbyes, my dad and I were sitting in the car in silence, and then I started laughing. Laughing about what, I did not know, but soon the laughter was mixed with crying and then I realized what we were getting into. Life without a mom was hard on all of us, but it also made us realize how blessed we are with the mom we have. Those five weeks were probably the hardest I will ever have to deal with. But now I respect my mom more and realize how much she really does for us and how much we love her.
