Kent Eaton, associate dean and professor of pastoral ministry (San Diego), participated in the Disability Task Force of the American Academy of Religion on November 20-21, 2005, in Philadelphia, Pa.
John Lillis, dean and executive officer (San Diego), was a plenary speaker for the annual meeting of the European/Asian Accrediting Association in Moscow, Russia, during October 2005. He was also a co-teacher for the Global Associates for Transformation Education, providing faculty development for more than 50 teachers from seminaries in the Ukraine and Russia.
Keith Olson, professor of marital and family therapy; and administrator, marital and family therapy program (San Diego), can be heard on KPRZ (1210 AM) with his show “Living Well,” which “answers life’s challenges, making ‘living well’ a reality in your life” (see “Sound Advice”). In addition, he was a pastor for Oasis, a retreat for youth pastors and families, sponsored by Bethel University in St. Paul in fall 2005. He also presented a workshop on “Tips for Counseling Teenagers” on November 10-12, 2005.
James Smith, associate professor of church history (San Diego), teaches a 12-week course on church history focused on leadership development at Emmanuel Faith Community Church, Escondido, Calif., that began in January. In March he addressed the role of faith communities in preventing religious violence at the Harvard Club of San Diego conference.
Wilbur Stone, associate professor of global evangelism and contextual ministry (St. Paul), traveled to India with his wife Sheila in February, where they participated in a pastors training conference for leaders from more than 200 churches associated with Gospel Association of India. Stone also took part in a major evangelistic meeting with attendance of more than 100,000. In addition, he worked on arrangements to conduct a future Doctor of Ministry in Global and Contextual Leadership intensive in India.
Mark Strauss, professor of New Testament (San Diego), preached on gospel “miracle stories” at the Chinese Bible Church of San Diego-West Campus from November 2005 through February 2006.
Mariel DeLuca Voth, library director (San Diego), who is serving a four-year term on the Association of Theological Schools International Collaboration committee, attended meetings in Philadelphia, Pa., on Racial/Ethnic Women and White Women Building Alliances in Theological Education.
