Spring Break 2008 EventsEach spring break, Bethel music performance groups and athletic teams tour the country as Bethel ambassadors. In 2008, the Bethel Choir, baseball team, softball team and tennis teams converged upon sunny Florida. Alumni, parents and friends gathered throughout the state to cheer on athletes and musicians and to re-connect with Bethel friends and classmates. Bethel AthleticsBethel Baseball and PicnicTuesday, March 25, 2008 Fort Myers, Florida – The Bethel men’s baseball team took on the rookie Minnesota Twins team to an excited crowd of 150 alumni, parents, families, and friends. Following the game, 125 constituents enjoyed a picnic lunch and heard the latest Bethel news from Vice President for Constituent Relations Ralph Gustafson, Executive Vice President for Institutional Advancement Paul Olson, Director of Admissions Jay Fedje and Coach Greg Inglecoffer along with his team captains. Sunshine warmed the fun afternoon of baseball and prizes were given to lucky fans who came to support the team. |
Bethel Softball and PicnicWednesday, March 26, 2008 Clermont, Florida – The women’s fast-pitch softball team played a double header in the morning where over 100 fans came to watch and cheer them on. Following the games, the Office of Constituent Relations hosted a delicious outdoor picnic lunch in the sun. The picnic included a message from Ralph Gustafson, Jay Fedje and Coach Rod Radcliffe with his team captains. Everyone enjoyed the food, conversations, and prizes won! |
Bethel Tennis Match and ReceptionFriday, March 28, 2008 Kissimmee, Florida – The Bethel tennis team played in a mixed doubles competition for alumni and parents on Friday evening. After the winner couple, “Team Blue,” was announced, everyone enjoyed an evening pizza party celebration under the stars at the Star Island Resort. Ralph Gustafson visited with the group along with Coach Dan Morton and Dottie Haugen. |
Bethel Choir Tour 2008Bethel Choir Concert at Wycliffe Bible TranslatorsTuesday, March 25, 2008 Orlando, Florida – Wycliffe Bible Translators hosted a concert performed by the Bethel Choir. The choir sang for an audience of 150 local alumni, grandparents, and staff from Wycliffe. Following the concert, everyone enjoyed a time of reception—compliments of the Office of Constituent Relations. Alumna Ruth Hubbard c’84, Senior Vice President at Wycliffe greeted the audience and spoke about her college experience at Bethel. Director of Music Tours Kevin Shull and Professor Jim Reynhout represented Bethel at the reception. |
Bethel Choir Concert at Trinity Baptist ChurchThursday, March 27, 2008 Sun City Center, Florida – The Bethel Choir performed a concert at the Trinity Baptist Church where over 300 people filled the church to hear the spectacular sounds of the choir. Trinity Baptist partnered with the Office of Constituent Relations to provide fresh strawberries & cookies at a reception for everyone who attended the concert. The constituents enjoyed hearing the Bethel Choir, who were visiting the area for the first time. |
Bethel Choir Concert at Bethel Baptist ChurchSunday, March 30, 2008 Bradenton, Florida – The Bethel Choir sang at Bethel Baptist Church to a packed auditorium. Bethel Baptist is the home church of many Bethel alumni in the Bradenton area. Ralph Gustafson, VP for the Office of Constituent Relations, spoke to the audience with Bethel updates and information during intermission. Following the concert, the church partnered with the alumni office to provide a well-attended reception in the gymnasium. |
Habitat for Humanity Service DayMarch 2008 Bethel University students and alumni recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build homes in the Twin Cities and Los Angeles areas. Two teams of students and alumni worked at sites in St. Paul and Woodbury, while a group of Los Angeles-area alumni worked on a site in Glendale, Calif. The California service project was the first-ever official Los Angeles Alumni Chapter event. Alumni of all ages gathered together on Saturday, March 29, to reconnect with their alma mater and serve the community with Habitat for Humanity. The crew worked on an 11-home project in Glendale by laying pipe, moving wood, and framing. "It could not have been a better day of service, connections and community," says Sarah Sandberg, Los Angeles member of the National Alumni Board. |

Bethel Wind Symphony 2008 Winter Music TourJanuary 30 - February 4, 2008 More than 200 friends at Whittier Community Church enjoyed the Bethel Wind Symphony concert and reception. Rev. Curt Fauth c'54, s'57, National Alumni Board member for the Los Angeles area, Sarah Sandberg c'05, and former Bethel University campus pastor Sherry Bunge Mortenson s'85, shared their excitement and support for Bethel's mission. San Diego, California - Dead Sea Scrolls Presentation, Luncheon, and Museum TourAugust 24-25, 2007 In August 2007, Bethel Seminary San Diego and Bethel University’s Office of Constituent Relations hosted three events that focused on the Dead Sea Scrolls, hailed as one of the most significant archaeological finds of the 20th century.
