2007 Alumnus of the Year
U.S. Army Chaplain (Colonel) Glen L. Bloomstrom ’77, S’81 is the Bethel University College of Arts & Sciences 2007 Alumnus of the Year. Glen provides leadership to shape Army policy and establish training initiatives that enable unit chaplains to minister to soldiers and families in crisis.
Glen has served in a variety of military units worldwide, including the Army Chief of Chaplains staff at the Pentagon, where he was responsible for marriage and family counseling training, relationship education, deployment family support, combat stress training, and leadership coaching. Currently he serves as the command chaplain for the Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life and senior pastor of Saddleback Church, calls this Bethel alumnus “a hero of the faith.”
Glen and his wife Ruth (Trautmann ’77), parents of three children, live in Leavenworth, Kan.
