Letter from Planning Committee

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps”—Proverbs 16:9.

We were so grateful for our experiences at Bethel, and our time together during Homecoming was just as sweet. If you missed our reunion celebration, we missed you! If you had the chance to “come and see,” we are so glad you made it!

We enjoyed a concert by Watermark on Friday night. On Saturday, we sat through a freezing cold football game, wandered our beautiful campus and marveled at how ‘old’ we felt, and sat in on some classes to see what college life is really like nowadays. We also enjoyed chapel together and worshipping the Lord as one body. We ate a scrumptious dinner that wasn’t chicken and rice, to everyone’s surprise! Most importantly, we had a great time in the Dining Center Terrace reminiscing and fellowshipping with each other.

Seann Dikkers emceed our event with sensitivity and humor, and posed statements of “Things We Can’t Do Anymore, 10 Years Later.” So:

  • Can you still play broomball and not be sore one week later?
  • Can you still eat all the junk food you want at 2 a.m. and not gain any weight?
  • Do you or have you ever owned and operated a sagaboggin?

There were door prizes galore (did you envy the pleather binders or what?), a trivia game that became a mathematician’s delight, and a wonderful devotion by Laura Smythe sharing her wonder at the course that God provided for her life.

Bethel continues to grow and to bring a great Christian education to thousands of students who need your continued financial support. Bethel University is focused on growing students academically and spiritually, showing them the way of life. Tuition alone doesn’t cover the expenses of this fine campus, so the support you send is vital for young people to experience Bethel life as we once did. Won’t you consider supporting Bethel for the future? Students and faculty also need your prayer support. We know and trust in a God that provides, so let’s do our part to further the good news around the world!

Thanks for a great reunion weekend!
