Reunion Wrap-up Letter
Dear Bethel Class of 2002,
Hello fellow alums! Homecoming this year was again a fun-filled weekend just as we remember it from our Bethel days. With great events such as department gatherings, programs, and of course, the Bethel vs. Carleton football game, the weekend flew by.
On Saturday night following the football game, more than 100 members of our class gathered on the terrace of the DC for a time to reminisce over college memories, reconnect with old friends, and share the changes we have experienced in our lives. Our fun evening began with a Mexican-style taco dinner provided by our Sodexho friends in the DC, a place that’s undergone many changes and is now quite the dining establishment! We were reminded of the days when a hot meal was ready for us without fail each night…no prep required!
Following dinner, our emcees Erica (Ekbom) and Peter Anderson delivered an entertaining program. Door prizes were handed out for various reasons such as who had traveled the farthest (Florida!) and the person with the most imminent (or recent) birthday. Peter and Erica proceeded to humorously show us that while life has changed since Bethel, some things are actually very much the same. Perhaps the biggest change now, Peter reminded, was that unlike our time at Bethel, parking tickets can no longer go unpaid!
Afterwards, it was neat to see the number of people who stuck around to catch up with lost acquaintances, snap photos with Bethel friends, and revel in college memories. The people we shared our Bethel years with shaped our lives. Having time set aside to spend together was a special treat.
Whether you were able to join us at Homecoming or not, we hope that the coming five years until our next gathering will be filled with exciting changes, successes, and even greater spiritual growth. We’ll look forward to seeing you back at Bethel again in 2012 for our 10 year reunion!
