Jonathan Berry '06 appreciates the family-like support, and the diversity of spiritual and educational backgrounds represented in his cohort.
Bethel has launched a B.A. in Christian Ministries program designed for people who need to finish their undergraduate degree so they can pursue seminary or other graduate programs. It is also ideal for people who are interested in exploring the practical dimensions of ministry.
The director of the program, Dale Durie, brings more than a decade of pastoral and teaching experience to its design. “This program has a strong Bible, theology, and spiritual formation emphasis with ministry skills classes and an internship,” says Durie.
After completing his general studies at Bethel, Jonathan Berry decided to further his education through the B.A. in Christian Ministries program. Berry attends Shiloh Baptist Church in St. Paul and wanted to learn more about Scripture.
“There is only so much I could learn from sermons and Bible studies, and my pastor recommended that I attend Bethel University,” Berry says. “The staff and faculty at Bethel have bent over backwards to calm my apprehensions and to make sure I understand the material.”
The course work is challenging, but Berry is impressed by exemplary faculty “who welcome any question on any subject, and are able to incorporate the answers into the material we are studying.”
“I know that when I have completed my degree in Christian ministries, I will be fully prepared to accept the ministry assignment that God gives me,” Berry says.
