More than 150 Bethel University students, staff, and alumni participated in Community Outreach Day on a recent Saturday in March. They served at numerous sites around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Some of the tasks included:
- Visiting seniors and helping them with chores
- Painting the dining center at the Salvation Army
- Purchasing, preparing, and serving food to 250 homeless men at Catholic Charities Secure Waiting
- Cleaning the clothing boutique at
Naomi House, a home for women in transition
- Helping those with disabilities
enjoy the Party Night at North Heights Lutheran church
- Making cards with residents at
Exodus House, a home for men and women in transition
- Working at construction sites
for Habitat for Humanity and Urban Homeworks
"It was a very
successful day overall," says Donna Johnson, pastor of outreach ministry.
