Nearly 60 Bethel University alumni, parents, and students came together on Saturday, November 1, to pack more than 21,000 meals--enough food to feed 60 children for an entire year--at Feed My Starving Children, an organization that seeks to reduce the number of starving children throughout the world. The event was organized by the Twin Cities-area members of the National Alumni Board, including alumna Pat Mellema '83.
"By volunteering our time and money to
feed children in impoverished countries, Bethel alumni are being the hands and feet
of Christ," said Mellema. "We can build community with other alumni while simultaneously
serving those less fortunate than ourselves--it's a win-win!
"We had a wonderful time working together. The FMSC coordinator said she could not remember the last
time a group packed so many meals in one shift," concluded Mellema.
