Students Recognized for Commitment to Service

Student Servant Leadership Awards

Winners of the 2009 Student Servant Leadership Award were recognized at chapel on May 6.

The winners of the 2009 Student Servant Leadership Award were honored at chapel and a luncheon on May 6. Bethel instituted the Student Servant Leadership Award in association with the Barney II and Moore Foundations to recognize five students each year for their ministry, community service, and leadership. Peers, faculty, and staff nominate students for the award.

The 2009 award winners are:

Moses Hungiapuko
Moses Hungiapuko is a junior international relations major from St. Paul, Minn. During his time at Bethel, Moses has directed the African/African-American Christian Fellowship, served as a site leader with the Literacy Leader Program, interned in the Aurora/St. Anthony Neighborhood Development Corporation, volunteered with the Bethel/Frogtown Summit-University partnership, and participated in mission trips.

Sindy Morales
Sindy Morales is a junior reconciliation studies major from Coon Rapids, Minn. During her time at Bethel, Sindy has volunteered at the Emmanuel Christian Center, participated in REPRESENT, directed Latina/Latino Affairs within the Office of Inter-cultural Programs and Services, served as a counselor at Union Gospel Missions kids camps, and volunteered as an ESL tutor at Salem Baptist Church.

Ahmed Odushola
Ahmed Odushola is a junior engineering science major from London. During his time at Bethel, Ahmed has served as executive director of intercultural programs as part of the Bethel Student Association, volunteered with Feed My Starving Children, been a student leader of the Sankofa spring break trip, and served in the Frogtown community through tutoring, planning events, planting gardens, registering people to vote, designing t-shirts, and mentoring youth.

Jonathan Reynolds
Jonathan Reynolds is a junior Bible and theology major with a reconciliation emphasis and double minor in art and communication studies from West Allis, Wis. During his time at Bethel, Jonathan has served as a resident assistant, led a sophomore small group, participated in Somali adult literacy training, served on a worship team, interned with TreeHouse Youth, participated in a South Africa mission trip, and served as part of Twin Cities Outreach.

Ann Solinger
Ann Solinger is a junior nursing major from Stevens Point, Wis. During her time at Bethel, Ann has volunteered with an elementary age school youth program through Twin Cities Outreach, tutored at Central Baptist Church, served as a Welcome Week leader, participated in a South Africa missions trip, led mentoring communities for RIOT, volunteered with World Relief, and participated in Acting on AIDS.
