One in 150 children is diagnosed with autism. If you currently serve students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) or plan to, prepare yourself for working with this unique population by obtaining a 10-credit certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Designed for special education teachers or other education professionals who work with special education students, the certificate is designed to meet the competency categories for students with ASD, as identified by the Minnesota Autism Project.
Learn from practitioners skilled in working with autism. Register once for the entire program and attend class with a supportive group of busy adults like you. Class evaluations occur through written assignments, projects, presentations, class discussions, and small group participation.
Take one class at a time every third Saturday during the school year and one night a week for six weeks in the summer. Finish in approximately one year.
“There are other autism
certificate programs around the state, but none have a Christian
perspective," explained Katie Raisanen, program director for special education. “These children are in all of our schools, and educators
need to better prepare themselves to educate these students.”
Applications are being accepted now for the new program. For more information, contact an admissions advisor at 651.635.8000 or 800.255.8706, ext. 8000.
