- Greg Bourgond
(Online Education) was selected as a Visiting Resident Scholar for 2009 by
the C.S. Lewis Foundation, because of his focus on values, a focus Lewis
had in many of his writings. This was Bourgond’s first trip to the Kilns
in England,
the home of C.S. Lewis. While staying in the quarters of Major Warren
Lewis, Bourgond finished his book entitled Heart Surgery: Becoming a Man after God’s Heart. Bourgond is
the founder of Heart of a Warrior Ministries and has published a manual
called “Heart of a Warrior.”
- Doug Frisk
(Health and Physical Education) was selected to serve on a Minnesota
Department of Education Committee to re-write the 5-12 teacher licensure
test for health education.
- Don C. Postema
(Philosophy) recently presented “Ethics and the Use of Animals in Research”
for the Toxicology Assessment & Compliance Assurance Group at the 3M
Corporation in Maplewood,
Minn. Postema also led a
panel discussion entitled ‘“Have I made the right decision?’ Addressing a
parent’s questions at the bedside” for staff at Gillette Children's
Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul,
Minn.
- Ripley Smith
(Communication Studies) had a two-part radio interview with Moody
Broadcasting, regarding a study he conducted that looked at
Christian Music Radio to determine what sets it apart from mainstream
music radio. The study didn’t look at the music itself, but what was said
between the songs. The study was conducted in
conjunction with Mark Seignious from Northwestern College.
- Ning Zhang (Anthropology
and Sociology) recently published a book review on The Next Evangelicalism: Freeing the Church from Western Cultural
Captivity by Soong-Chan Rah in Prism.
