“The interpersonal ‘soft’ skills a potential employee can
offer are quickly gaining the attention of employers,”
declares the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Professionalism,
enthusiasm, the commitment to excellent customer service, and above all,
polished communication skills, will make you shine above the rest. To boost one of the most important soft skills, communication,
the Graduate School
at Bethel University offers the M.A. in Communication to
help you succeed in your current career or send you in a new direction. Join a
community of adult learners who, like you, want to hone those ‘soft’ skills for
use in the workplace and beyond.
Prepare to change your mind and perspective through course work and assignments. Program director Leta Frazier says, “Some students are transformed because of the Christian perspective integrated throughout each course. Some are transformed in the interpersonal, cross-cultural, or organizational communication courses. For others, it’s doing research. God touches the students’ lives, and they find their voices.”
As editor of Lake Country Journal Magazine, Jodi Schwen had found her voice. But adding a master's degree gave her additional expertise in her field.
“I found that
I really enjoy the academic research and writing process," Schwen says. "I tell everyone about how much can be gained by going back to
school—at any age. Having my master’s
degree has increased my self-confidence, given me a greater knowledge base, and
especially, an eagerness to share what I have learned with others.”
