Career Services
Self-assessment is an essential component of career development and planning. We offer a limited number of counseling sessions using several self-assessment tools and inventories to help you integrate career options with a better understanding of yourself.
Inventories
While no inventory will tell you the "one perfect career" that is right for you, but they can give you options to explore.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
This 93 question inventory looks at your personality preferences
and how they relate to possible strengths, areas that may need
improvement, and careers. The inventory normally takes 35-45 minutes
to finish and costs $8.00. To take this inventory, stop by Career
Services and make an appointment. After the appointment, you will
be given the inventory to complete at your leisure. When you return
the inventory to our office, we will make a one hour appointment
with you to interpret the results.
Strong Interest Inventory
The
Strong Interest Inventory can help you to identify general areas of
interest as well as specific activities and occupations which you may
want to explore further. The Strong has 314 questions, takes
approximately 45-60 minutes to finish, and costs $12.00. To take this
inventory, stop by Career Services and make an appointment. After the
appointment, you will be given a password so you can take the inventory
online at your leisure. Once you have taken the inventory, you will
need to make a one hour appointment for you and a counselor to review
your results.
Campbell Interest and Skill Survey
This
survey is often recommended for alumni or non-traditional students. It
is a 320 question survey that looks at not only your interest but also
your self-reported skill level on a variety of scales. The survey takes
approximately 50-60 minutes to complete and costs $12.00. To take this
inventory, stop by Career Services and make an appointment. After the
appointment, you will be given the inventory to complete at your
leisure. When you return the inventory to our office, we will make a
one hour appointment with you to interpret the results in approximately
two weeks. (The Campbell is scored off-site so the results are received
in approximately two weeks.)
