Latino Community Organizing Intern, Family and Children's Service, Minneapolis, MN

Job Description:

  • This position support activities pertaining to community-based programs ad organizing
  • These programs bring people together around common interests, build leadership capacity in others, and create systems changes for the well-being of families
  • Community and Systems Change initiatives at Family and Children's Service have as a core value building community leadership to achieve racial and economic justice
  • Intern responsibilities may include assisting with Latino Leadership Development Training, so ability to speak Spanish is highly preferred
  • Interns may also assist with community outreach, group development, action plan implementation and other community-based program strategies
  • Responsibilities:

    • Assist staff in outreach to recruit people to participate in community building initiatives
    • Aid staff with conducting educational sessions for community groups to help them identifying strengths and developing leadership skills specifically for Latino Leadership Development Training
    • Conduct 1-on-1 interviews, in person and by phone, with potential participants in community building initiatives
    • Take notes at meetings and write minutes/summaries
    • Aid in tenant organizing and door knocking
    • Help identify and recruit collaborative partners
    • Assist with all aspects of  event planning and implementation
    • Assist with research projects around tenant organizing
    • Create program flyers to assist with mailings and other disbursement methods to advertise programs
    • Respect and maintain the confidentiality of FCS clients
    • Other duties as assigned

  • Primary duties and responsibilities:

    • The Children's Theater Company is looking for a fun, motivated intern to assist with the overall planning and implementation of major fundraising  and donor cultivation events for The Children's Theater Company including opening night receptions, the annual Curtain Call Ball, donor luncheons and other special events

Job Description:

  • Accompany Reign missions teams during training and overseas travel to capture pictures of the team's experience
  • If interested you will have the opportunity to apply for and join a ministry team overseas as a student leader with responsibilities focused on photographing the team's experiences
  • There are possibilities to do your internship during the fall, winter, spring, and/or summer

  • In general, your responsibilities will require you to capture photos that can be used to communicate to others God's work and movement in the lives of students through Reign Ministries
  • You must be able to supply all photography equipment

  • Specifically, your responsibilities will be defined with you and subject to your passions, interests, and abilities
  • If you choose to join a ministry team you will need to be open to traveling overseas with teams for extended periods of time (2 weeks to 10 weeks)- you will also need to raise your own support for the trip

      • Locating and gathering court, medical, and other records
      • Communicating with government agencies
      • Translating documents
      • Managing client appointments
      • Preparing case files
      • Internship duties can be flexible, and efforts will be made to match the interests and skills of the intern to projects they find interesting and helpful to their studies
  • Terms of Internship:

    • The internship will be four months, 8-10 hours per week
    • After four months the intern and the ILCM will discuss the possibility of extending internship depending on needs and interns of both the intern and the organization
    • ILCM prioritizes long-term volunteers who gain skills and experience during their time at ILCM, enabling them to more fully contribute

Qualifications:

Fall Intern, Chicano Latino Affairs Council CLAC State of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN

Job Description:

  • The CLAC Community and Research Fellow Internship is designed to develop an understanding of state legislative functions, communication and research skills in collaboration with diverse Latino stakeholder organizations
  • These include non-profit, for-profit companies and local, state and federal government
  • The CLAC intern will learn to effectively network with community advocates and public policy-makers and understand the Minnesota legislative process
  • Interested candidates should have interest in public policy and the state's Latino community, and be able to work well with others
  • CLAC interns reports directly to the Executive Director. The fall intern collaborates closely with the Legislative Director and the Community Liaison

  • This position works directly with Segment Managers to assist in providing donor engagement activities and communications
