Job Description:
- This
posting represents all open temporary positions working with youth this summer
at Pillsbury United communities at Brian Coyle Community Center – 420 15th Ave. S; Oak Park Center – 1701 Oak Park Av. N; Pillsbury
House – 3501 Chicago Ave. S.
- These
positions include Behavior and Nutrition Specialist, Youth Specialist, Gym
Attendants and others
- They
vary in required qualifications, responsibilities and compensation
- If

- Assist
in providing quality youth programming that included academics, arts,
leadership development, recreation and sports teams
- Plan
and implement developmentally appropriate activities for youth ages 5-16
- Maintain
positive relationships with participant’s parents to ensure continued
enrollment/parent participation
- Contribute
to a positive working environment
- Manage
the behavior of youth enrolled in programs by building strong relationships
with them and their parents, conduct 1:1 and group interventions, and
consulting with other staff members about incentives and consequences
- The
Behavior and Nutrition Specialist, at Oak Park,
will mange all aspects of the summer food and nutrition program, including
daily pick-up of lunches, prepare and distribute food to youth, maintain
accurate meal counts and other paperwork, and maintain good communication with nutrition Center personnel
- Manage
all aspects of summer food and nutrition program, including daily lunch

proper documentation and confidentiality
- Provide
first-aid for children and inform parents through incident reports
Qualifications:
- Positions require varying
amounts of education/experience, from a high school diploma to a college
degree
- High degree of comfort working
with inner city populations
- Demonstrated flexibility and
responsibility
- Creative thinking, decision
making, problem solving, and reasoning skills and capable of taking
initiative
- Ability to work independently
and as part of a team
- Working knowledge of the
developmental needs of youth
- Good written and verbal
communication skills
- Ability to relate effectively
and work respectfully with people of various cultures and backgrounds
- Willingness to learn and
improve as a child care professional
- Some positions require the
ability to become an Agency authorized driver within two weeks of hire
- The stamina necessary to
effectively work with a group of youth with a wide range of abilities and
needs
