Our Pre-2 Program

Our Pre-2 program at the King CDC is focused on giving preschoolers opportunities for active academic learning, building cultural awareness, and engaging in community.

Relationship building is also an essential part of our program. Through a Christ-centered perspective, we emphasize learning experiences that enhance social and emotional development.

Facilities and Staff

Our Pre-2 preschoolers have their own space that is uniquely set up to fit their learning needs and prepare them for the classroom environment they’ll experience in kindergarten.

Preschoolers receive care and instruction from pre-kindergarten licensed teachers as well as college students who are preparing to become professional early childhood educators. This creates an opportunity for children engage in many innovative learning experiences, and learn from individuals who are knowledgeable in child growth and development.

Curriculum

At the King CDC we use a learning center approach to curriculum. Each day teachers design learning experiences to meet the needs of the individual child as well as the entire group.

Based on our program philosophy, we partner with other community organizations to provide our children and families an eclectic approach to meet academic needs—and to prepare our Pre-2 students for kindergarten.

Partnering organizations include: St. Paul Public Schools, Foundations for Success & Wilder Research Foundation, and more.

To emphasize our focus on community engagement, we also have planned experiences designed to expand the learning environment beyond the King CDC such as field trips and community speakers who come to share their talents and professions.
