“Our football team is a quasi-church, and our coaches are the leaders. They are Christ-followers, and therefore, they naturally model what it looks like to be men of integrity.”
—Reid Velo
Did you play sports in college? Remember the feeling when you crossed the finish line? Scored the winning shot, goal, or touchdown?
Or maybe you’re the fan. Cheering friends and family on from the sidelines in a show of support—win or lose.
At Bethel, athletics is about the thrill of success and the fun of competition, but it’s much more. Student athletes finesse their jump shots and serves, but also grow spiritually through relationships with their teammates as well as coaches. They build character and become adventurous Christ-followers both on and off the field. They develop into smart and highly-motivated business men and women, teachers, scientists, musicians, business men and women, able to build successful careers and make a difference in their professions.
In recent years, Bethel’s sports teams have become increasingly successful, now ranking in the top 26 percent of NCAA’s Division III schools.
How can I support Bethel athletes?
Through financial support, hundreds of generous donors help make this transformation and success possible. With gifts totaling more than $4.5 million, Bethel has built Hargis Park, Royal Stadium, the Ona Orth Athletic complex, a new fitness facility, as well as renovated the Sports Recreation Center’s floor and most recently, replaced the Robertson Center gym floor.
