Give to Athletics

WHAT'S NEW?

ROBERTSON CENTER WEIGHT ROOM UPGRADED

What the hub is to a wheel, Bethel's weight room is to athletes. Athletic programs depend on strength development for their athletes as the link between where they are and where they want to be in the heat of competition. Strength development is central to injury reduction, performance enhancement, and confidence building. Having the right tools available in the weight room, as well as the right conditions, makes it possible for athletes to push themselves in ways previously unknown to many of them.

Thanks to a combination of generous gifts, including a lead gift from the Bethel Student Association, Bethel's fitness facility has set a new standard for athletic preparation and general student fitness. The makeover included the addition of new treadmills, elliptical runners, recumbent bikes, and all new weights and platforms. Also, a rubberized floor and multi-speaker sound system were added. Stop by and take a look!

Thank you to everyone that made this project a success!

Sports and Recreation Center Update

Bethel athletics plays a unique role in the intellectual, social, and spiritual growth of young men and women, and its continued success has been made possible by donors who share the vision of Bethel athletics and have generously funded its growth. The result? Bethel's Student Recreation Center (SRC) is making progress toward becoming a first-class athletic venue.

Through the generosity of numerous donors, a state-of-the-art multipurpose flooring system was installed in September 2006, providing Bethel with an indoor track surface on par with the U.S. Olympic track training facility. In addition to the track, a specially manufactured and tuned interior court surface will provide an exceptional game and practice venue for tennis, volleyball, and basketball, as well as general student recreation, physical education classes, and intramurals.

The new SRC floor was unveiled during the 2006 Homecoming Week and put to immediate use by Bethel intercollegiate and intramural programs. In fact, the women's volleyball program hosted their MIAC match against the College of St. Benedict on the new surface. "First-class athletic opportunities are being realized thanks to our donors," says Jeff Westlund, director of athletic development.
