First MBA, Ed.D. Classes Graduate

Bethel’s College of Adult & Professional Studies (CAPS) and Graduate School (GS) proudly observed two landmarks in December, as the first MBA cohort of 20 students graduated, and the first doctoral students received their degrees in educational administration.

Members of this first group came from diverse business backgrounds; all are hoping to apply the MBA program’s principles of servant leadership rooted in ethics and sound management to their organizations and future endeavors.

“Professionally, this program has been a rewarding experience that has enriched me while providing many of the necessary tools for me to become a transformational leader in the business world,” says graduate Austyn Kryzer.

The doctoral program in the Graduate School is relatively new, with the first Ed.D. cohort beginning in 2005. There are now four active Ed.D. cohorts that do much of their work online, with students attending two-week residencies in July during each of the three years they attend the program. Coursework focuses on leadership development, education in historical context, curriculum and instruction, legal issues in education, and other topics. The program’s three new graduates currently hold teaching or administrative posts at university and secondary-school levels.
