Comprehensive Resource Campaign

Alan and Rebecca JohnsonAlan and Rebecca Johnson aren’t alumni of Bethel, but they were so impressed by young Bethel grads they met in their congregation that they began a lifelong association with the school. “They were just such impressive people, determined to be faithful beyond their college years,” says Rebecca. The Johnson’s children, Adam and Amanda, graduated from Bethel and, since 1998, Alan has served on the Board of Trustees.
“There are needs right now with respect to facilities and financial support that are crucial if Bethel is going to have a secure decade ahead,” says Alan. “The need didn’t come out of a crisis. It came out of how God’s blessed Bethel in terms of demand.”
The Johnsons have made the single largest gift of their lifetime to Bethel’s “Taking the Next Step” campaign. “It’s an honor to be able to support Bethel financially,” Alan says humbly. “When you see God at work like He clearly is at Bethel, you want to be of encouragement, and that includes writing checks. To not give money would be wrong.”
Bethel is a sound investment for donors, say the Johnsons, because if its quality leaders and because Bethel is true to its mission. “A lot of organizations have a mission and vision that are [displayed] on the wall somewhere; but it’s not often you see it in behavior. Bethel lives out its mission.”
