Roles and Responsibilities

Students

Students identify themselves as having a disability, register with the Office of Disability Resources and Services, provide documentation concerning their disability, request accommodations, meet each term with the disability services director to evaluate their need for accommodations and plan for their implementation. Students identify themselves promptly to the instructors from whom they need accommodations, and provide them with an accommodation request letter from the director of Disability Resources and Services. They contact their Disability Resources and Services in the event of difficulties or needed changes concerning their accommodations.

Employees

Employees contact the Office of Disability Resources and Services, provide documentation concerning their disability, request accommodations, meet with the director of Disability Resources and Services to evaluate their need for accommodations, and start the process of designing and implementing reasonable accommodations. They contact the director of Disability Resources and Services and/or their supervisor in the event of difficulties or needed changes concerning their accommodations.

The Office of Disability Resources and Services

The Office of Disability Resources and Services, following the guidelines of its privacy policy, centralizes disability documentation, determines reasonable accommodations, coordinates services, counsels and assists students, employees, faculty, staff, supervisors, and administration in matters connected with disability concerns.

Faculty/Staff/Supervisors

Faculty/Staff/Supervisors determine essential components and standards for courses, programs or job requirements, and work with the Office of Disability Resources and Services to provide reasonable accommodations.

The ADA/504 Compliance Officer

The Compliance Officer is the person to contact if the need arises to appeal a decision of the Office of Disability Resources and Services concerning matters related to accommodations.
