Job Summary

This is a full-time faculty position with extensive teaching, research and leadership responsibility in the College of Adult & Professional Studies and Graduate School, specifically to the MA in Counseling Psychology and the BA in Human Services programs. Courses taught in these areas will depend on the candidate specializations and program needs.

Responsibilities

A successful applicant will serve as Program Director for these two programs, actively teach in one or both programs, advise and supervise capstone and thesis projects, and work collaboratively with the Psychology department at the College of Arts and Sciences.

In addition to teaching, primary responsibilities will be:

  • curriculum evaluation and development
  • the selection and supervision of program faculty
  • program maintenance and growth leading to greater academic quality and broader awareness of the program

General faculty responsibilities will include:

  • collaboration with the academic team to ensure learner satisfaction and support
  • serving as subject matter specialist for the programs
  • providing support and encouragement for program faculty
  • serving on faculty committees as required

Maintaining a strong network of professional contacts would be expected in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position along with a proven ability to communicate vision among diverse constituents.

Required Skills

  • the candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University, the integration of Christianity and the science of psychology and excellence in teaching, mentoring, and professional service
  • candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel’s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding

Required Experience

  • current experience as a practitioner is strongly desired, along with some experience with entry level social services
  • research and record of publications would be an asset
  • an understanding of and familiarity with adult education and accelerated graduate programs for working adults is important, as is the ability to translate experience into quality educational programming.
  • previous experience teaching graduate students and adults returning to complete their education would be an asset as would expertise in the use of educational technology

Required Education

A Ph.D or Psy.D. in the Counseling and/or Clinical Psychology or equivalent specialty; licensure or license eligible as an LP, LPC or LPCC. Board approved supervisor status would be an asset; knowledge of state licensure requirements is a priority.
