Job Summary

This Special Education faculty member will teach, collaborate, and share administrative responsibilities of the growing Special Education program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach multiple courses in the Special Education graduate program
  • Supervise student teachers and support other supervisors connected to student teaching and field experiences
  • Manage/collaborate with add-on licensure programs (ASD, LD, EBD, other) and overall program design
  • Support the program director with MN Board of Teaching Licensing Requirements and all accreditation requirements, including state meetings
  • Function as the edTPA (Teacher Performance Assessment) Trainer; includes meetings at the state department, keeping current on implementation changes, and training Bethel University student teachers, supervisors, and faculty, as needed

Required Skills

The ideal candidate will:

  • be able to teach adult learners in content areas related to special education
  • have current knowledge of special education law related to Individuals with Disabilities Education Act - 2004
  • have knowledge of new and updated special education licensure areas in Minnesota
  • have the skills to lead/facilitate orientations for students and student teaching supervisors
  • be able to create new courses related to special education
  • have strong collaboration and problem solving skills

Required Experience

The ideal candidate must have:

  • experience in K-12 Special Education
  • one or more K-12 Special Education licenses
  • supervisory experience
  • experience teaching adult learners

In addition, it is preferred that the candidate will have leadership experience and research experience related to Special Education

Required Education

Ed.D. or Ph.D. preferred. Minimum of a Master's Degree in related area with additional coursework and/or intent to complete terminal degree

Additional Information

  • Compensation commensurate with education and experience
  • Schedule will vary depending on the time of the year
  • Driving to and from student teaching supervision is required
  • Availability to attend state meetings/seminars/workshops
