Sunday, May 25
7 p.m. | Doors open at 6 p.m.
Benson Great Hall
All seminary residential faculty must attend unless excused by the dean. Faculty members are part of the processional and recessional and sit on stage. Seminary staff members are strongly encouraged to attend and may sit anywhere in the audience.
There is no rehearsal. Instead, important instructions will be given at lineup. Report to CLC117 at 6:30 p.m. on May 25. Bring or wear your full academic regalia, including cap, gown, and hood. CLC117 is a classroom off the CLC Lobby. A coat rack will be available for your use. From CLC117, you will process in two lines to the CLC Lobby to await the arrival of the processing graduating class.
The graduating class will process from the Seminary Chapel along the lakeside path and into Benson Great Hall. You will process into Benson Great Hall after the students. Just before the recessional, faculty and program personnel will join the graduates and marshals for a photo; this is a Bethel Seminary tradition that began in 1871. The recessional order is opposite the processional: you will recess out first, followed by the graduates.
A reception for graduates, guests, and seminary employees will take place in Brushaber Commons after the ceremony. Please go directly to the reception to meet graduates and their guests. Hallway hosts will direct everyone to the reception. Signs identifying degree programs will be posted throughout the reception area as gathering points for grads, guests, and employees. Some degree programs will gather in the Underground, and some in Monson Dining Center. Refreshments will be available.
Wear your full regalia, including cap, gown, and hood. If you do not own regalia, you may rent or purchase it through the Campus Store. Email Brenda Edinger at firstname.lastname@example.org for details. Orders must be placed by May 1 to ensure delivery.
