Platinum Alumni Reunion
The theme for Homecoming 2012 was Revitalize, and throughout the weekend Bethel alumni had the opportunity to reconnect with one another and to renew their gratitude for Bethel and the role it has played in each of their lives.
As part of the Homecoming festivities, more than 30 alumni and guests from the classes of 1957, 1952, 1947, 1942 and 1937 gathered on Saturday, October 6 in Bethel’s Eastlund Room for the Platinum Alumni Reunion Luncheon. It was a wonderful celebration!
After receiving a warm welcome from Ralph Gustafson, vice president for constituent relations, the group heard from President Jay Barnes, who shared about ways that he sees God working in and through the Bethel community today. Bethel junior Neil Eukel then talked about the lessons that God has been teaching him through his Bethel experiences, and senior soloist Callie Turner provided lovely music. The group then sang several beloved hymns together, including “Have Thine Own Way,” “Trust and Obey,” and “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.”
Following the singing, Dan Wiersum, associate vice president for development and director of planned giving, shared about Bethel’s Royal Heritage Society and planned giving services. He also offered a blessing for the meal, a delicious Scandinavian feast complete with Swedish meatballs and mashed rutabagas!
Following the meal, Howie Rekstad ’57 facilitated a time for alumni to share their favorite Bethel memories. Attendees shared about treasured friendships, formative experiences, and the preparation for life and ministry that they received at Bethel. They also praised God for His faithfulness through both the blessings and the challenging seasons of life.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Platinum Alumni Reunion Luncheon. If you were unable to attend, you were missed! We hope you can join us for our next reunion gathering.
