Office of Financial Aid

Bethel Seminary

How to Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid at Bethel Seminary, a student must file both a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and the Bethel University Financial Aid Application. The results of both forms will indicate eligibility for most types of financial aid, including grants and student loans.

If you are a Doctor of Ministry student, your opportunities are limited and you should not complete either the FAFSA or the Bethel University Financial Aid Application.  Visit the Doctor of Ministry Programs financial aid webpage for more information and instructions.

Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

  1. Apply and be accepted for admission to Bethel Seminary, pursing a Masters degree or certificate.
  2. Complete the Bethel University Financial Aid Application. Students must apply for financial aid each school year.

  3. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible after federal taxes are completed. Be sure to include Bethel University (code #002338) on the list of schools to receive your FAFSA information.

  4. Only students selected for verification or using estimated income data in the FAFSA must submit signed federal taxes to the Office of University Financial Aid.

    • Approximately 30 percent of the student population is selected for verification by the Department of Education.  The Office of University Financial Aid will contact you if you have been selected for verification.
  5. New students at the St. Paul Campus starting in the fall or summer may be eligible for an incoming student scholarship by completing an online application (May 1 deadline). For more information see Scholarships .

  6. Continuing students in the traditional program at the St. Paul campus may apply for returning student scholarships by completing an additional online application (April 15 deadline).

Steps after Receiving Award Letter from Bethel

  1. Notify the Office of University Financial Aid of any necessary changes or additions to the Financial Aid Award.

    • Confirm that your award was based on your correct enrollment.

      • Students enrolled in less than eight (8) credits per quarter are not eligible for Bethel's grants or scholarships for that quarter.
      • You must take at least four (4) credits per quarter to maintain your Stafford Loan eligibility.
    • Notify the financial aid office of any private scholarships not already listed on the award letter.
  2. Submit the appropriate loan applications or requests (if needed) by July 1 (or one month prior to the start of the term) to ensure timely disbursement.
