How to Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid at Bethel Seminary, a student must file both a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and the Bethel University Financial Aid Application. The results of both forms will indicate eligibility for most types of financial aid, including grants and student loans.

2007-2008 Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

  1. Apply and be accepted for admission to Bethel Seminary (new students only).

  2. Complete the Bethel University Application for Financial Aid (2007-2008). Students must apply for financial aid each school year.

  3. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible after January 1. Be sure to include Bethel University (code #002338) on the list of schools to receive your FAFSA information.

  4. Submit to Bethel signed copies of student's (and spouse's) prior-year federal tax returns. Federal tax returns should include the 1040/1040A/1040EZ, copies of W-2 forms, and copies of major schedules (Schedule A, B, C, SE, etc.).

  5. Applying for non-need-based aid only? Skip the FAFSA and tax forms, and complete only the first two pages of the Bethel University Application for Financial Aid.

2008-2009 New Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

  1. Apply and be accepted for admission to Bethel Seminary (new students only).

  2. Complete all four pages of the Bethel University Financial Aid Application (2008-2009). Students must apply for financial aid each school year.

  3. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online as soon as possible after federal taxes are completed. Be sure to include Bethel University (code #002338) on the list of schools to receive your FAFSA information.

  4. New for 2008-2009: Only students selected for verification or using estimated income data in the FAFSA must submit signed federal taxes to the Office of University Financial Aid.

    • Approximately 30 percent of the student population is selected for verification by the Department of Education.  The Office of University Financial Aid will contact you if you have been selected for verification.
  5. New students at the St. Paul Campus starting in the fall or summer may be eligible for an incoming student scholarship by completing an online application (May 1 deadline). For more information see Scholarships .

  6. Continuing students in the traditional program at the St. Paul campus may apply for returning student scholarships by completing an additional online application (April 18 deadline).
