H1N1 Information

An H1N1 Task Force is meeting regularly to help prevent and prepare for a possible H1N1 outbreak on the Bethel campus. The team is closely monitoring updates on
the status of H1N1 and will follow any guidance from the state or federal
governments regarding this virus.
If you believe you may have H1N1, If You Become Ill has helpful instructions for you.
H1N1 Flumist Vaccination Clinic
Bethel now has the H1N1 Flumist (intranasal spray) vaccine. This vaccination will be available free of charge to College of Arts & Sciences students age 24 and under, Bethel employees and students who live or work with children under six months of age, and Child Development Center children. Please note that the Flumist is not recommended for those with underlying health conditions or those who are pregnant.
The Flumist vaccination will be offered from noon-4 p.m. starting Mon., Dec. 7, through Thurs., Dec. 10, in Health Services. College of Arts & Sciences students and adults who live or work with children under six months of age are welcome to come for the vaccination during those times. Parents of Child Development Center children should talk with Ellen Wilson to learn how to get the vaccination for their children.
Should the location of the clinic change or vaccination doses run out, you will be notified via email.
All healthy students under the age of 24 are encouraged to get the vaccine. Even though current cases of H1N1 have declined, health experts believe a third wave of the illness is possible. Full immunity from the vaccine comes two weeks after it is given.
