We continue to see steady numbers of students and employees reporting H1N1 symptoms—approximately six a day. A few updates and reminders:
If you have symptoms of H1N1, we want to help care for you.
The first thing you should do if you have symptoms is fill out the self-report form. You may also call or email Health Services (651.638.6215 or health-services@bethel.edu) if you have concerns or questions. A Health Services nurse will give you advice based on your symptoms and situation. As is in line with current health practices, we ask that you do not go to Health Services unless you have underlying health issues or are instructed to do so by Health Services, because this furthers the spread of the virus.
You may also find an online self-evaluation tool helpful in determining when your symptoms require medical attention.
If you need meals, have a roommate or friend go to the Sodexo office (near the Monson Dining Center) with your ID card or ID number. They will be given a takeout box in which to get food for you. If you are unable to find someone to do this for you, contact your RA.
We also recognize that employees may be dealing with ill family members. If this is your situation, we want to support you. Please work with your supervisor on arrangements specific to your situation.
We also want to give you an update on the availability of the H1N1 vaccination. Minnesota has received its first shipments of the H1N1 vaccination. There are limited supplies and so priority is being given to pregnant women, children four and under, children 18 and under with underlying health conditions, and health care personnel. If you fall in any of these categories, please contact your primary care provider to see about getting the vaccination.
Health Services has preregistered to receive the H1N1 vaccine. We’re still unsure as to when it will be available, but it will likely be several more weeks. As soon as there is more information about the vaccination, we will make you aware.
