Adjunct (Part-Time) Faculty Appointment in the Department of Communication Studies, Assistant Forensics Coach

Qualifications:

Completion of a baccalaureate degree and one to two years of prior competitive forensics experience, either as a competitor or coach, preferably on the college level. The Bethel forensics team competes in individual events, Readers’ Theater, parliamentary debate, and Lincoln-Douglas debate. Candidate must have experience in at least one of these areas, and preferably in multiple areas. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel’s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Communication Studies is seeking an individual to be responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director of Forensics in coaching and preparing for competition. This includes some miscellaneous administrative duties. The coach would travel with the team (and drive a vehicle on behalf of Bethel as needed), supervise students, and judge at tournaments. While hours are negotiable, there is an expectation of some Tuesday afternoons and/or weekend travel.

Compensation:

The position is considered the equivalent of one academic course per academic year. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Full-Time Faculty Appointment in the Department of Biological Sciences, Neuroscience (Tenure Track)

Supervisor:

Qualifications:

Ph.D. with an emphasis in neuroscience. Primary interest and ability in teaching undergraduate students; a record of successful college teaching is preferred. Responsibilities:

Teach the equivalent of a full-time (seven-course) load per academic year. Participation in teaching courses in the introductory biology curriculum, sophomore-level anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology/pharmacology, and upper-level neuroscience. Participation and evidence of ongoing professional and/or scholarly development. General faculty responsibilities will include student advising, and department and committee assignments.

Full-Time Faculty Appointment in the Department of Education and Director of Early Childhood Education (Tenure Track)

Supervisor:

Department Chair

Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education (ECE) [B-3rd grade] or related field. License required in ECE and preferred license in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE). Teaching experience including course development, program assessment, and teaching at the college level. Minimum of three years teaching experience in ECE. Expertise in early childhood curriculum and instructional strategies. Experience in working with diverse student populations - including English Language Learners - is desirable, along with ability to integrate diversity issues into the curriculum. Experience in the use of instructional technology and e-learning is desirable. Management/administration experience in early childhood setting is desirable. Experience with grant writing and management is desirable. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel’s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.

Responsibilities:

Teach the equivalent of a full-time (seven-course) load per academic year, with additional summer responsibilities. Specific responsibilities include coordination of undergraduate ECE and ECSE courses of study, coordination and supervision of students in field assignments, teaching undergraduate-level students, establishing and maintaining school partnerships, committee assignments and scholarship. Oversight of two ECE lab schools. Work with grants. Experience with accreditation processes and knowledge of Minnesota Board of Teaching and Teacher Education Accreditation Council standards is preferred. General faculty responsibilities will include student advising, and department and committee assignments.

Full-Time Faculty Appointment in the Department of English – New York Center for Art and Media Studies (NYCAMS) (Associated Status; One-Year Appointment)

NYCAMS is a faith-based, one-semester residency program that offers art and writing students the opportunity to live, create, and interact with contemporary culture in New York City.

Supervisor:

Director of NYCAMS

Qualifications:

M.A. or M.F.A. in journalism, writing, or related field. Demonstrated college-level teaching ability and experience essential. Publication record (e.g., essays, creative nonfiction, long-form journalism) required. Successful experience with publishing organizations desirable. Candidate must be available to teach during the day. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel’s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.

Responsibilities:

Teach the equivalent of six courses per academic year. (A full load consists of the equivalent of seven courses.) Course assignments include a writing course ("Writing New York"), a literature course ("Literature on Location: New York City"), and student internships. Additional faculty responsibilities will include leading field trips, arranging readings and guest lectures, collaborating with the NYCAMS art program, and recruiting students.

Full-Time Faculty Appointment in the Department of Health and Physical Education, Athletic Training (One-Year Appointment)

Supervisor:

Qualifications:

A master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field is required, doctorate degree preferred. BOC Athletic Trainer Certification for at least one year is required. This position also requires current Athletic Trainer Registration in Minnesota or eligibility. Expertise in clinical supervision of athletic training students and rehabilitation techniques would be important for fulfilling the responsibilities of this position. Previous experience as an athletic trainer educator in a CAATE-accredited program is an asset. Candidate must be able to complete instructor requirements for CPR/AED for professional rescuer. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel’s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.

Responsibilities:

Teach the equivalent of a full-time (seven-course) load per academic year, with additional summer responsibilities. Primary clinical instruction of athletic training students with didactic teaching responsibilities; may include courses in First Aid, Motor Learning, and Lower Extremity Evaluation. Team sport coverage as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. General faculty responsibilities include involvement in the activities of the department.

Full-Time Faculty Appointment in the Department of Political Science (Tenure Track)

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Political Science; ABD candidates considered. Demonstrated teaching ability and research or scholarly interests in Comparative Politics with emphasis on the nations of the Global South. Candidates with ability to teach courses in qualitative and/or quantitative methodology preferred. Course assignment may include introductory and upper-level comparative or area specialty courses, methodology courses, political theory or political institutions courses, and other departmental courses as well as participation on an interdisciplinary team in service to a Western Civilization great books course. General faculty responsibilities will include student advising, and department and committee assignments.
