CARS Training Classes Description

Key #1 Introduction to CARS Information Services at Bethel

  • Required of every employee who will be using the CARS database. Learn about computer equipment and Bethel data. Receive a login, create a password, use Perform or IDEntry screens. Learn Bethel standards for entering titles, names, addresses and relationships.
  • CARS KEYS #1 is a prerequisite to all other CARS KEYS classes.
  • Keys #1 is 3-3.5 hours in length, and is offered twice monthly, usually the first and third Tuesday afternoons of each month.
  • Supervisor submits request on training or on login request form. Request must include employee's full name, ID#, name of another person's login to copy for this new user, preferred and unavailable training times.


Key #2 Duplicate ID Records


Learn to deal with duplicate ID records; how to avoid them, how to choose which to retain, how to correctly update the records. 2-2.5 hours. Offered as needed, usually for employees responsible for departmental CARS data.

Key #3 Filling out CCARforms


Communicate project requests to the Administrative Computer Center from your desk. System designed to provide fast, accurate and complete requests, and to allow interaction as projects move toward completion. 2-2.5 hours. Offered as needed, usually for employees responsible for departmental CARS data.

Key #4 UPPERCASE Menu Options

Maximize your use of the CARS system with the menu options at the bottom of the screen. Learn about scheduling tasks, using mail, printing menu paths, viewing reports, more. 3 hours.

Key #5 CARS Utility Menu


  • Selections from the multi-feature Utilities menu.
  • Printer and File Management
  • Develop your skills in managing files and printers; transferring files from CARS to PCs; more. 1.5-2 hrs.


Key #6 CARS - Report writing made easy with Impromptu

Build your own reports from the CARS database. Course not yet available.

Key #7 Data Issues with CARS


More about data standards and screens for maiden names, former names, preferred names and nicknames. Alternate addresses, relationship records. 2-2.5 hours. Offered as needed, usually for employees responsible for departmental CARS data.

Key #8 departmental __Entry programs

These programs and screens are customized for the needs of each department. After completing the general introduction to IDEntry included in KEYS#1, an employee usually has the basics to benefit from training in his or her department on the specific tools in use there. #8c is available from the Computer Center upon department request.
