Who we are...
Faculty
Instructional Technology Consultants (FITC's) are both scholars and
practitioners who specialize in course design, and implementation, troubleshooting, and assessment of technology within the physical and online classroom to enhance teaching and learning.
As a team, our collective areas of expertise include instructional technology, distance education, adult education, educational psychology, biology and environmental studies, Christian spirituality and theology, leadership theory, and music education. This broad collective experience allows us to work productively with faculty from many disciplines as they design and teach their courses.
What we do...
FITC's provide Bethel faculty with the tools and expertise they need to excel in a modern instructional environment.
We
accomplish this through proactive processes such as providing regular
faculty training seminars, maintaining a presence on various
policy-setting committees, and teaching courses that exhibit the
appropriate use of instructional processes and specific technologies.
We also provide just-in-time support for faculty instructional technology needs through our presence at the Information Commons and by developing relationships with key faculty in all departments at Bethel.
[Please
note: Our team focuses on issues related to teaching and learning. If
you have a general computer-technical problem or question (i.e., "My
virus protection is acting up" or "How do I install that Office 2007
patch?"), please contact the employee help desk at 651-638-6500 #1 or helpdesk@bethel.edu or create an incident for your problem or request.]

What is Instructional Technology....
Instructional technology is the systemic and systematic application of strategies and techniques derived from behavioral, cognitive, and constructivist theories to the solution of instructional problems. Instructional Technology = Instructional Design + Instructional Development. Instructional technology is the systematic application of theory and other organized knowledge to the task of instructional design and development. [From: What is instructional design]
