Step 3. Click on the Learning Unit drop-down menu, select Assignment, and click the GO button. Learning Unit Dropdown

Step 4. Provide a name for the assignment, choose a color for the assignment title name, fill in the points possible, and then ask a question and/or provide instructions as to the process for assignment completion.

Note that here I have described for the students the entire process for downloading, completing, and uploading their completed assignment.

Step 5: Set the Availability Options. Be certain to check the "Do you want to make the assignment visible?" option.

If you want to know who and when students access the file, check the "Do you want to track the number of views?" option

If you want to have the assignment available for a limited time, then check the "Availability Dates:" and CHANGE the Display Until date.

Step 6. Attach the assignment if you have not clearly defined it above so that the students can download and fill in the assignment Assignment Attachments

Step 7.  Submit your assignment and settings. Submit

Step 8. What students have to do:
  • The students need to go to your "Course Document" or "Assignment" page in Blackboard and then click on the View/Complete link.

They then will be able to read and or download your assignment.

  • When completed, they need to come back to the View/Complete page and either type, paste, or attach their completed assignment.  They can also put comments in the comment box AND attach a document
Your Files

Finally they can either Save or Submit.   Submit is final and they will no longer be able access their assignment - it is submitted.  Save allows them to continue working, but does not sent the document to the instructor? Student Submit

Step 9.  Go to the Control Panel of your Blackboard course. Go to the Grade Center in the Assessment Area and find the column with the assignment.  Each submitted assignment is designated by an exclamation point  ! (needs grading) icon. You have TWO choices for grading.

 1. Click on the "Click to see Options" for each student cell in the column, select "Grade Details", and then click the View Attempt button to the right under the "Attempts" area for that learner and correct the students assignment, assign and file in a grade and provide feedback for both yourself and the student.  Then Click OK and you can then select the next student from the drop down menu at the top left and work your way through the assignments.

2. You can click on the "Click to see options" in the Green header cell for the column and select "Assignment File Download" to download all files at once for grading. Then you can add grades in the normal manner in the Grade Center or use the process in step 1 above to reload commented papers and grades.
