Information on Course Creation

If the Blackboard Course Creator Web is not working:

Link to Blackboard Course Creator Tool Create your Blackboard Courses for the new semester by using the Blackboard Course Creator Tool Link Below:

During the creation process:

  1. You will select the courses or sections of courses for which you want Blackboard Courses.   A new version of your Blackboard Course must be created EACH semester in order to correctly enroll students. ONLY the courses in which you are the listed instructor will show up in your course list.  If you are supposed to be an instructor in a course and that course does not show up in your list, please call your chair, program director, or the registrar's office. For non-standard courses, please contact Bethel Blackboard or the Help Desk (6500). If you need help with creating a course for a course offered in the College of Adult and Professional Studies or the Graduate School, please contact Susie Brooks.
  2. You will also be able to add a TA to your course if you have their ID number.
  3. You will also be able to group sections of your course into one common Blackboard course (Exclusive Grouping).  If you wish to have a grouping of courses/sections for which you are not the sole instructor please contact a faculty consultant, Bethel Blackboard or the Help Desk (6500).
  4. IMPORTANT NOTE: After you "add" your courses using the Course Creator Tool, about 15 minutes are required for your courses to show up in your Blackboard course list.

After the creation process:

  1. You may need to import materials from a previous semester. See the links "Migrating Courses to a New Semester" and "Blackboard 5 to 6 Course Migration Instructions " on the Blackboard Support page reached from the ?Help button at the top of every Blackboard page.
  2. You will also will need to make the course available when you are ready for students to access it. Control Panel/Settings/Course Availability.

Make your previous semester's courses unavailable:

A good time to make your previous courses unavailable is when you create your next semester's courses (only if the semester is over).  Doing this keeps our student's Blackboard Course list up to date with only current courses.  Control Panel/Settings/Course Availability.
