Adding Random Scrolling Content

Random content entails pulling images or documents from a Silva folder that will appear on your page and intermittently change. Click here to see an example of random scrolling content.

1. To begin adding random content, start by selecting the  external source tab on the right hand side of your screen

2. Next, open the drop-down menu and select Display Random Content

3. Then, click "add external source"

4. ID the source in lowercase letters without spaces and Title the source how you desire the title to appear above your scrolling content.

5. Next, to select the folder from which you want to pull your content, click "get reference"

6. Now, select the desired folder and click "place reference"

7. Change the Recurse Depth according to how many levels of folders you want to pull content from.

For example: if there are folders within the folder you are linking to that have content you want included, then increase the depth to 1.  If there are folders within those folders that you want content from, increase the depth to 2.

8. Under "Content Type", select whether you will be scrolling images or documents.

9. Choose  to scroll content etiher intermittently by seconds or every time the user refreshes his or her page through selecting either "load page" or "Interval (X secs)"

10. If you are scrolling by second intervals, enter the number of seconds you want your content to display for in the "Random Interval (secs)" box

11. You can leave the Preload Number of Items blank, and choose yes or no for both the "Display Content Title" and the "Display Content Description."

Once you have finished with your settings select "add external source"

12.  Once you have added the external source, your page should look like the image directly to your right.

13.To view the public version on your page select the "public preview" button at the top center of your page.
