New students can set up their accounts
prior to coming to campus by following the instructions in the
documents below. The process will provide an e-mail address, storage
space on campus servers, and access to additional campus
computing resources.
Any modern computer, Macintosh or Windows PC, manufactured in the last four years should easily meet the minimum requirements.
Minimum Computer Requirements
You don't need a computer but you will likely want to have one. If you don't have a computer, Bethel has a main computer lab, computer classrooms and computer labs in residential areas. Hours of operation vary depending on the time of year.
Main Computer Lab Hours
Many students choose to bring laptops as their primary computer. Laptops offer many conveniences including portability and wireless networking. The disadvantages associated with laptops are increased vulnerability to theft and breakage as well as higher initial purchase cost and repair costs.
The choice between a Macintosh or a Windows PC is mainly a matter of personal preference. In some cases, depending on one's major, it may make more sense to choose one platform over the other. For example, the field of business is dominated by Windows PC's whereas the field of graphics is dominated by Macintosh computers.
