Operating systems are the programs that run your applications on your computer. They manage your connections to the network, keep track of your files, pass your print jobs to printers and a myriad other things. Operating systems run your applications like Word and Outlook; keeping them from running into each other and supporting their interactions with the rest of the world.
You can learn how to use the Windows XP or Windows 7 to compress files, search for files add printers and other useful things.
