Event Description

There is a special connection between a grandparent and grandchild, no matter what their age.

Grandparents Day is an opportunity for Bethel students and their grandparents to celebrate that special connection and enjoy a day together on Bethel's campus.

Mark your calendars and make plans to take part in Grandparents Day - Friday, April 11, 2014.

Schedule for Grandparents Day:

Students are encouraged to participate with their grandparents as their class schedule allows. Grandparents, be sure to connect with your grandchild and discuss your plans for the day.  

8-9 a.m. | Check-in and Coffee Reception
Community Life Center (CLC) 1st Level
Check in and receive your Grandparents Day materials, then enjoy some coffee and pastries before attending the opening session.

9-9:45 a.m. | Opening Session
Benson Great Hall
Gather with other grandparents in Benson Great Hall to hear from Campus Pastor Laurel Bunker and President Jay Barnes.

10:15-11 a.m. | Chapel
Benson Great Hall
Attend chapel with your grandchild and hear a message from Greg Speck ’73, youth and family communicator. Greg’s humorous sketches and true-to-life illustrations captivate audiences of all ages. He and his wife Bonnie are the proud parents of four Bethel graduates and grandparents of two.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Lunch
Monson Dining Center, Brushaber Commons 3rd Level
Experience lunch on campus with your grandchild (as their schedule allows), and enjoy the variety and appeal of Bethel’s buffet-style dining. Your Grandparents Day registration includes a ticket for lunch. Students may use their meal plan or flex dollars.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Hospitality Center
The Underground, Brushaber Commons 2nd Level
Looking for a place to spend some time connecting with your grandchild, or unwind while they are in class? Visit the Grandparents Day Hospitality Center, where you can enjoy some refreshments, have your photo taken with your grandchild, play some games, or simply relax.

11:30 a.m., noon, and 12:30 p.m. | Campus Tours
The Underground, Brushaber Commons 2nd Level
Join student hosts from Bethel’s Office of Admissions for a 30-minute indoor walking tour of campus.

1-1:45 p.m. | Leaving a Spiritual Legacy Workshop
Eastlund Room, Community Life Center 2nd Level
Learn ways to be an influence for good to your grandchild(ren) and others through generous giving and your spiritual legacy. Dan Wiersum ’73, Associate Vice President for Planned Giving at Bethel, shares from more than 30 years of working with generous individuals.

2-2:45 p.m. | Closing Session
Benson Great Hall
Hear stories from current faculty and students about the exciting things happening in Bethel academics, and how students are being equipped to accomplish exceptional things in their future careers and communities.

Extended Residence Hall Visiting Hours
The Office of Student Life has extended visiting hours for residence halls from 10 a.m. to midnight. Accompany your grandchild and experience his/her living community.
