Parents

A newsletter for parents of Bethel University students
The 2008 Valentine’s Day gift drive sponsored by the Office
of Alumni and Parent Services raised approximately $2,000 for the
Faculty Grant program fund. Kara Swanson, alumni and parent services
director, says that 33 requests were received. Available funds
allowed $29,000 for 18 grants (funded on at least a partial basis).
Here is one of the projects that was selected this year:
Fluid Diagnostic Lab is a Valuable Resource
Keith Stein, professor of physics, received an Alumni Faculty Grant to support ongoing student-faculty research in compressible flows. The project involves preliminary research with a Mach 3 supersonic shock tunnel that will be a key component of the Bethel physics fluid diagnostics laboratory. This facility will lead to exciting opportunities for future student-faculty research and for students interested in pursuing careers in aerospace engineering.
