Covert is the founder of Agape Art, an international art ministry camp that serves teenage girls at Rainbow Village Orphanage in Dumaguete City, Philippines.
After a post-graduation Bethel missions trip to Rainbow, Covert was overwhelmed by the creative potential of the teenagers in need of healing, hope, and mentoring. In the years that followed, she began selling her own artwork to raise funds to someday return. In 2007, Agape Art took shape as Covert led a team of four Cincinnati artists to the Philippines to encourage young women and teach them to use their gifts to help sustain their futures.
“Prior to working in RIOT, I didn’t exactly see myself as a leader,” explained Covert, “but with encouragement from a Bethel staff member who saw my potential, I found a place to belong and grow within RIOT. By mentoring young women to identify their God-given gifts, I developed a confidence and calling for relational ministry that has since shaped my life.”
