Presidential Search Information

Faculty and Staff:

Thank you for those of you who joined us yesterday for the Community Gathering to learn more about the presidential search process at Bethel. As we shared there, the Board of Trustees are leading the transitional process, including events to honor Jay’s retirement and a search committee to find the sixth president of Bethel.

The search committee will be comprised of nine members—six board members (including Jim Green as the chair), two faculty members, and one additional community member. The tasks for the search committee include developing a presidential profile, retaining a professional search firm, and developing and executing a comprehensive communications plan. Additional information about the search process can be found on the website, including search committee criteria and a timeline for the process.

Between now and March 15, we encourage you to visit the website to review the information and to consider recommending yourself or a colleague to serve on the search committee. The nomination form can be found online and must be submitted by March 15.

We also ask you to join with us in prayer throughout the entire process. We shared Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) as guiding verses for this search: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Let us pray that God will make a way for a new leader to Bethel.

Serving together,

Julie White, chair of the Bethel University Board of Trustees

Jim Green, chair of the presidential search committee
