The president will be an evangelical Christian with a high view of the authority and trustworthiness of God’s Word and a clear sense of divine calling to Bethel’s mission in higher education. At the core of effective leadership at Bethel University is the authentic, irenic, maturing Christian faith of the president. S/he should strive to be a servant leader, deeply committed to Christ in demonstrable ways that shape his/her actions and decisions.

S/he must exhibit, through experience and accomplishment, visionary leadership that connects and influences people both inside and outside of his/her scope of control and authority. Moral and ethical leadership must be apparent in all of his/her actions.
